The medicine form of Antabus is in the form of tablets and is used to quit alcohol addiction. Disulfiram inhibits the normal metabolism of alcohol. In some cases, you may experience headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or chest pain (disulfiram reactions) if you take alcohol with disulfiram at the same time.
Approach: Do not drink any alcohol for at least 12 hours before taking the medicine. Up to 14 days after stopping the medicine, if any alcohol is consumed, you may experience the disulfiram reactions mentioned above.
Do not take this medicine with cough syrups and antipyretics under any circumstances. Avoid all foods and beverages containing alcohol.
